Welcome to Baylins Ballet Barn

High quality teaching in an inspiring setting.


Founded in 2003, Baylins Ballet Barn provides all levels of RAD Grades and Vocational exams, as well as non-syllabus classes.


Classes are principally taught by Annik Coatalen, Dip.RBS TTC ARAD, and also Anna Trévien, RBS PDTC, AiChor,and pianists usually accompany all levels. Annik has been entering students for RAD graded and vocational exams since 1977; first in France till 2000 inclusive, and from 2003 from Baylins Ballet Barn.Students have entered for the top vocational schools, and many have been associates of the Royal Ballet School.

Students are entered from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2 in face to face exams. the next exam session is on 4 July 2022 in BBB.


The Dance Studio is in a beautiful and historic Grade II listed timber framed barn, specifically restored to the highest standards.

Congratulations on these students who have started full time dance training.

Emily Cozens at Trinity Laban September 2021. Emily has been invited to be part of the creation process and perform in the National Youth Ballet production of "The Seven Deadly Sins." She has also joined "The London Youth Chamber Choir" and next week will be performing at the start of the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey" with the Queen and other royal family members in attendance! Then a few weeks later performing St Johns's Passion with the English Touring Opera. This is all while dancing in the full time course at Trinity Laban. I have not included all her news but she sent me some night time photos in London (she admitted that she was cold!) I will see her perform in English Youth Ballet's production of Swan Lake at the Waterside Theatre in Ayesbury on 22 March with a present student, Maddie Newington, who also has a solo!

Zara Scott at Elmhurst Ballet School September 2021. Zara danced the lead role in Cinderella in the Y12 production in May 2022 to be performed along BRB! Zara is accepted to the Royal Ballet Summer School 2022

Sophie Schulten who entered the International Youth America Grand Prix on 18 December 2021

Maddy Newington who has joined the Senior Associates of the Royal Ballet School. She has been accepted at the 2022 Royal Ballet School summer intensive, and danced with EYB in the Spanish solo.

Ana Hume-Christopher is a JA at the Royal Ballet School.

Anna is the Senior Choreologist with The Royal Ballet and also the Head of Benesh International at the RAD. She qualified from The Royal Ballet School Professional Dancers Teacher Training Course over 10 years ago and formally taught at Baylins Ballet Barn.
